As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ), you will pitch, write, shoot, interview, and edit stories that connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms. You will own each step of the storytelling process and collaborate with a team to produce compelling, timely, and accurate coverage.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS

• Experience: Television news reporting – 3+ years
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field; or comparable television work experience
• Technical Skills: Ability to shoot video, edit with video editing software, and use social media effectively
• Skills: Effective on camera communication and strong written and verbal expression
• Abilities: Curiosity, sense of urgency, ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
• Travel: Willingness to travel in your neighborhood to discover stories and interact with the community
• Schedule: Ability to work under time pressure, adapt to different shifts or long shifts from breaking news, severe weather emergencies, and availability on weekends and holidays
• Valid driver’s license for authorized driving in the state of residence

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a 24 hour news channel

Working Conditions

• Work both inside a climate controlled environment and outdoors year round; may be subjected to extreme heat or cold conditions

The base pay for this position generally is between $44,000.00 and $80,000.00. Compensation is based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location, and may include additional incentive based options.
