Job summary

TEGNA Inc.'s WBIR-TV Knoxville is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to continue its tradition of rigorous local reporting across TV, web and social platforms. You will shoot, write and edit compelling stories, develop ideas, and inform viewers with authentic storytelling under deadline pressure.

Candidates should have strong news judgment, solid writing and production skills, and the ability to gather sources for on-air and online content.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years reporting experience preferred.
• Must possess solid news judgment, strong communication, creativity and ethical decision-making.
• Strong writing, production and tease-writing abilities.
• ENPS, EDIUS and Axis graphics experience is preferred.
• Must be organized and able to work under deadlines.
• Able to calmly handle live breaking news and changing events.
• Proven social and digital content creation ability.
• Knowledge of Knoxville a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in developing stories or breaking news.
• Develop story ideas and mine the community for sources.
• Identify, write and produce stories within a framework.
• Research for facts and credibility and maintain sources.
• Shoot, write, produce and edit on air and online content within deadlines.
• Use graphics and new media to enhance stories; engage via social platforms.
• Attend editorial meetings and contribute ideas daily.
• Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
