Job summary

Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY is seeking a Multimedia Designer to join the Marketing and Communications Office. You will work with a graphic designer, web developer, content developers, writers and videographers to create print and multimedia graphics and animated content for Web, email, social media, ads, and digital signage.

The role emphasizes branding consistency, development of MVCC’s visual footprint, and delivering high‑quality design solutions on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or related field and minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in a related professional field.
• Effective organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills; ability to prioritize, coordinate, and schedule work assignments in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience with higher education advertising and demonstrated success in the use of Adobe software to achieve the conceptualization, design, and production of print and digital deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Translates content into visuals for digital and print presentations.
• Creates motion graphics in a multitude of formats for use on the website, social media, texts, HTML emails, advertising, digital signage, and mobile apps.
• Contributes to visual messaging that supports recruitment, retention, brand awareness, reputation, and strategic priorities of the College.
• Conceptualizes, shoots, edits, designs and develops multimedia content.
• Works with design colleagues, content developers, web developers, and photographer and videographer to develop visuals in concert with MVCC’s existing branding guidelines.
• Generates creative design thinking and solutions to achieve communications goals through advertisements designed for print, digital, and other media.
• Applies professional graphic design skills, and designs that compel advertisement materials and promotional items that represent MVCC’s brand.
• Consults with other office staff to ensure that advertising designs are consistently co- branded with other Web, print, and media.
• Manages multimedia projects from conception to completion, ensuring that the project meets the requirements of stakeholders and are delivered on time and within budget.
• Creates and maintains a data base of vendors, job specifications, project progress, production coordination, photography selection, and to assess advertising effectiveness.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Multimedia Designer in our Marketing and Communications department. The Multimedia Designer assists with the development of the College's digital footprint and by working with a graphic designer, web developer, content developers, as well as writers, and videographers, on the creation of print and multimedia graphics, and their integration into motion graphics for use in various digital media (including Web, mobile apps, online ads, HTML emails, social media, digital signage, presentations, and more). They utilize design thinking and professional graphic design skills to create print and digital advertising published by the MVCC Marketing and Communications Office. They exercise creative expertise and affiliations with other designers, photographers, content creators, and clients to provide effective design solutions. The Multimedia Designer ensure that advertisements follow the same brand standards as print, digital, and other design work of the office.

• Works with vendors to determine the technical specifications and schedules of advertisements, with clients and colleagues to determine advertising priorities and timelines, and researches products and resolve technical problems.
• Stays up-to-date with the latest multimedia trends, tools, and techniques, and shares knowledge with colleagues.
• Ensures that advertisements meet the same design and quality control standards as print publications, digital and other media.
• Represents the Office of Marketing and Communications in a professional, dependable manner and courteously interacts with constituents across the College and the broader community.
• Other duties as related to this job description and as assigned by the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.
