Job summary

Dow Jones is seeking a Video Journalist to create YouTube-ready business, markets and personal finance explainers for MarketWatch and Barron’s. You’ll script, shoot, and edit solo from concept to publish, adding graphics and data to illuminate complex ideas.

You’ll produce news, explainer, documentary and character-driven videos, conduct expert and on-camera interviews, and tailor content for multi-format distribution while collaborating across teams for maximum reach.

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience producing, shooting, and editing video and journalism in video, audio or print.
Proven track record of YouTube success.
Experience producing compelling news, explainer, documentary and character-driven videos.
Strong journalistic skills: ideation, research, fact-checking, sourcing experts and real people, interviewing, and data interpretation.

Responsibilities

Research, pitch, write and produce original short and long form video stories about business, personal finance, markets, technology, and the economy.
Conduct interviews and write scripts that explain complex financial ideas clearly and engagingly.
Shoot and edit videos from concept to publish, including lighting and post-production.
Adapt content for multiple formats — YouTube explainers, on site clips, and social/vertical video.
Incorporate graphics and data to visualize trends and concepts.
Collaborate across teams to optimize reach and engagement.
Use analytics to understand performance and apply insights to future projects.
Appear on camera as needed to host videos.
