Job summary

The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) is seeking a Preschool Substitute Teacher for on‑call shifts at our IRCO Preschool in Beaverton, OR. The role supports the Preschool Promise program under the Preschool teaching team, ensuring safe, engaging learning experiences for children while following state licensing guidelines.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and the ability to work in a diverse community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Less than one year of experience required.
• Enrollment in Oregon Central Background Registry preferred.
• Some coursework in child development or early education preferred.
• Bilingual in English and another language preferred.
• Knowledge of immigrant and refugee cultures and local populations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Maintain confidentiality of records and information.

Responsibilities

• Support the Preschool teaching team to boost children’s development.
• Maintain a welcoming, clean, organized, and safe classroom.
• Promote multilingual and multi-background family engagement.
• Adhere to Preschool Promise and Oregon licensing requirements.
• Assist children with daily activities and encourage independence.
• Follow cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout the day.
• Observe confidentiality of health and student records.
• Build professional rapport with families to provide quality service.
• Complete weekly lesson plans and attendance records.
