KIPP New Jersey is seeking a Multilingual (ELL/ESL) Teacher in Newark, NJ. This full-time role starts immediately and is part of the Teacher department.

You will design English proficiency-focused lessons, teach in pull-out/push-in formats, and use data to drive mastery of English while engaging with students and families to support progress. The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree, valid state certification, and a passion for diverse student populations, with a track record of classroom

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Official transcripts showing degree conferred are required prior to starting date.
• GPA thresholds as stated for graduation year.
• State teaching certification completed or in process.
• Experience with diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
• Track record of success in the classroom.
• Collaborative attitude towards teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans in accordance with students’ level of English proficiency.
• Teach small group classes using pull-out and push-in model.
• Use data to responsively teach mastery of the English language.
• Work closely with students, families, and colleagues to create an environment that is supportive of student progress.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to ensure all students meet the learning objectives.
• Update student goal trackers and use data to help guide your lesson plans.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Joining our schools as a Multilingual Teacher comes with the opportunity for significant growth and development, but with great power comes great responsibility. Your role as a teacher will include several responsibilities which will include but are not limited to:

• Prepare lesson plans in accordance with students’ level of English proficiency

ESL Teacher Must Haves:

• A belief in every student’s limitless potential.


• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.


• Official transcripts showing degree conferred are required prior to the starting date of employment.


• A minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 if graduation date is after 2016 or minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 if degree conferred before 2016.


• Appropriate state teaching certification completed and issued or in process of being completed.


• Demonstrated interest in working with students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.


• A track record of success in the classroom.


• A collaborative attitude towards teaching and learning.

Nice to Haves:

• Be bilingual in another language


• A minimum of two years of teaching experience


• Knowledge of WIDA requirements

KIPP NJ offers competitive salaries to newly hired lead teachers. Salaries are based on prior experience and in accordance with certification requirements. KIPP NJ offers a competitive salary range of $65,000-$103,000+ for teacher positions with additional opportunities for earning up to $7,000 annually in performance-based pay.
