Job summary

TOTE Services LLC is seeking a Cross Functional Inspector to oversee vessel construction activities in the Philadelphia shipyard. You will inspect multiple disciplines, review drawings, and ensure compliance with contract standards and safety protocols.

The role emphasizes field presence, regulatory collaboration, and delivering ready-for-trial vessels. Reporting to the Chief Inspector, you will collaborate with USCG, ABS, and shipyard teams to ensure quality and timely execution.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture preferred.
• 10+ years of shipbuilding or marine industry experience in lieu of degree.
• Broad exposure to multiple shipbuilding disciplines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to read and interpret ship construction drawings and technical documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections across multiple shipbuilding disciplines to verify compliance.
• Spend ~80% of time in the field conducting inspections and shipyard patrols.
• Review drawings and procedures to validate construction and design compliance.
• Identify issues, support resolutions, and ensure corrective actions.
• Support dock trials and sea trials to validate operational readiness.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare for audits and regulatory oversight.
• Collaborate with USCG, ABS, shipyard leadership, and SME teams.
• Uphold safety protocols and promote safe work practices.
