Job summary

The Save Mart Companies in San Jose, CA is seeking a Multi‑Purpose Clerk to support Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, and Janitorial duties. You will promote sales, assist customers, and handle special orders while keeping departments fresh and well presented.

You will operate the checkstand, stock and rotate products, and maintain store cleanliness. Applicants must be 18+, have a HS Diploma or GED, and six months of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate the checkstand according to company policy and procedures, memorize PLU codes and keep up to date with new products; stock and rotate product onto shelves and cases in all areas of center store operations.
• Produce - Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment and quality; stock, rotate, and merchandise product to maintain freshness and department appeal.
• Meat/Seafood - Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment and quality; weigh, wrap/package and label products for display; provide customer service at the seafood counter; may take special orders.
• Bakery/Deli - Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment and quality; prepare, weigh, package, and label products for display; stock, rotate, and merchandise.
• Janitorial - Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the store; sweep and mop; may operate janitorial equipment.
• Pharmacy - Operate the pharmacy register according to company policy and procedures and keep up to date with new products; take prescriptions from customers.
• Duties Included In All Departments - Sweep and mop; may operate forklift or baler if authorized; perform other duties as assigned.
