Job summary

Neighborly is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple states, manage payroll records, and assist with payroll accounting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 3+ years of payroll experience; equivalent combinations considered.
  • Multi-state payroll and taxes; confidential data handling and discrepancy resolution.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel with pivot tables and VLOOKUP) and HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Independent worker who can also collaborate in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll records accurately and on time across multiple states, including new hires, terminations, adjustments, deductions, 401(k) contributions, and payroll taxes.
  • Partner with supervisors to confirm accurate timekeeping and pay reporting.
  • Prepare, process, and distribute payroll checks and adjustments as needed.
  • Process weekly Davis-Bacon payroll for 10–15 jobs and file required documentation.
  • Prepare payroll, billing, bonus, and accounting reports on a recurring basis.
  • Support month-end payroll and benefits accounting, including journal entries and GL activity.
  • Maintain payroll processing records and support audits and compliance documentation.
  • Support payroll-related organizational changes, acquisitions, and associate transitions.
  • Manage payroll communications and respond to inquiries; escalate issues as needed.
  • Support garnishments, direct deposit corrections, pay card tasks, and other duties.
