Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka, IN seeks a Multi-skilled Technician. You will support RNs with basic patient care, perform EKGs, draw blood, and monitor vital signs while helping with daily living activities.

Requires ability to read and write English, high school diploma, and CPR. Competency training will be provided; prior health-care exposure is preferred. Full-time, night shift, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school level education.
• Able to read, write, spell in English and perform basic arithmetic.
• Successful completion of EKG and Phlebotomy courses upon hire or transfer.
• CPR certification on hire or within 60 days.
• Previous patient care experience and/or health-related technical education preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform basic patient care activities under RN supervision.
• Take blood glucose measurements and record intake/output.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Perform ordered EKGs and phlebotomy per policy and training.
• Help keep patient rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
• Attend required trainings and participate in continuous improvement.

About The Job

Multi-skilled Technician under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities. Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information. (For patient care providers) Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including taking blood glucose measurements, recording intake and output, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, and eating. Performs ordered EKGs according to policy and per documented training and competency assessment. Performs Phlebotomy duties according to policy and per documented training and competency assessment. Assists with keeping patient rooms stocked, clean, and orderly. Attends required in-services, workshops, retreats, staff meetings. Participates in and foster a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

Education: The level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through the completion of high school level courses.

Ability to read, write, and spell English and perform simple arithmetic calculations.

Licensure

• Successful completion of EKG and Phlebotomy course upon hire or transfer.
• Successful completion of the initial clinical competency requirements in order to perform independently.
• CPR certification on hire or able to attain within 60 days.

Experience: Previous patient care experience and/or technical education in health-related field preferred.
