Job summary

CBS News Detroit is seeking an experienced Multi‑Skilled Journalist (MSJ) to join CBS News Detroit. The candidate will fight for the lead story, develop sources, own social media, and deliver energetic local news reporting.

The role requires strong storytelling, the ability to shoot, write and edit packages for daily newscasts, and work with a team under tight deadlines. A college degree in journalism or equivalent experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to shoot and edit broadcast quality video for television newscasts and digital platforms.
• Proficient in Premiere Pro.
• Knowledge of Broadcast ENG cameras, lighting, audio and LiveU.
• Ability to work independently with high accuracy and tackle problems quickly.
• Strong social media skills across platforms.
• Able to work a varied schedule including mornings, holidays and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license.
• College degree in Journalism/Communications/Broadcasting preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum 4 years MSJ/television reporting experience preferred.

Candidates must have strong, creative storytelling skills and an energetic delivery.

This is a per diem position.
