Job summary

New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service is seeking Maintenance Assistants to perform semi-skilled maintenance, repairs and alterations across diverse trades. Incumbents may oversee daily tasks and coordinate with contractors while maintaining high standards of reliability and professionalism.

Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical, carpentry and grounds work, with overtime or travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under a skilled trades supervisor.
• Completion of a two-year technical school is acceptable.
• Must be able to read and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry and other facility services and equipment.
• Conduct general grounds maintenance and cleaning of facilities and offices.
• Troubleshoot facility, equipment and machinery problems and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain automotive equipment and other machinery.
• May supervise subordinates or act as primary contact for contractors.
