Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a hands-on Water Truck Operator to support landfill operations with safe handling of water trucks and ancillary heavy equipment.

You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, help coordinate activities at the site, and maintain cleanliness and adherence to the Landfill Operations Manual. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and teamwork in a rugged work environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate water truck, dozer, compactor, scraper, and loader safely and efficiently.
• Fill tank of Water Truck with water at beginning of and throughout shift.
• Drive Water Truck safely inside the landfill and spray to maintain surface moisture for dust control and compaction.
• Operate heavy equipment under supervision and ensure productive work flow.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment before and after trips and report conditions.

Job description

JOB DUTIES

• Operate water truck, dozer, compactor, scraper, and loader safely and efficiently.
• Fills tank of Water Truck with water at beginning of and throughout shift as necessary.
• Drives Water Truck in a skillful, safe and efficient manner inside the landfill while operating sprayers to achieve and maintain appropriate yard surface moisture for dust control and soil compaction activities.
• Operates heavy equipment in safe and productive manor under direction of Lead operator and Landfill Manager.
• Performs pre-trip and post trip vehicle and or heavy equipment safety inspections and reports vehicle condition to supervisor.
• Fuels vehicle as needed and cleans vehicle at end of shift.
• Will lubricate or perform minor repairs to vehicle. Inspects and spots incoming loads.
• Responsible for maintaining good house keeping at and around site and conduct activities to assure policies and procedures of the Landfill Operations Manual are maintained.
• May perform Landfill Clerk duties as needed.
• Will also assist in and coordinate all landfill activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
