Job summary

DREAM is seeking a Multi-Site Mental Health Provider to support NYC-area students and families across DREAM Charter Schools. The role emphasizes addressing social-emotional needs, collaboration with teachers, families, and outside agencies, and adherence to IEP/504 mandates.

Qualified applicants have a Master's in a relevant field and NY licensure options, with 3–5 years of school-based counseling experience. Travel among DREAM locations is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a similar field is required.
• New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor - Limited Permit (MHC-LP), OR School Psychologist with NYSED license or NYS DOE certification required.
• Bilingual Spanish language ability is highly preferred.
• 3–5 years of school-based counseling experience preferred.
• Experience with IEPs, Special Education or Early Intervention preferred.
• Experience with crisis intervention and trauma-informed practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health services addressing social, emotional, and developmental needs.
• Create Counseling Reports and Quarterly IEP Progress Reports for students with IEPs.
• Maintain progress notes in SESIS and participate in IEP meetings as appropriate.
• Support teachers with understanding student behavioral and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with families to ensure positive partnerships and communication.
• Supervise paraprofessionals and manage 1:1 support cases when mandated.
• Coordinate with outside student support agencies as needed.
• Participate in supervision meetings and perform other school duties as assigned.

Reporting to theSenior Director of Social-Emotional Learning and Mental Health, the Multi-Site Mental Health Provider will support the school in addressing the social, emotional and developmental needs of DREAM's students and families and ensure students have access to appropriate resources and services.

Responsibilities

• Embody DREAM's maxims and ensure that students exhibit the same values;
• Ensure all weekly scheduled mental health services are in compliance with IEP and 504 mandates;
• Create Counseling Reports and Quarterly IEP Progress Reports for all students with IEPs by the set deadlines and participate in IEP Meetings when appropriate;
• Maintain updated progress monitoring session notes in NYC DOE SESIS documentation system;
• Support teachers in understanding each student's behavioral and social emotional strengths and needs and supporting appropriate differentiated instruction by participating in Grade Team Meetings, completing monthly classroom observations, implementing teacher consults when appropriate, etc.;
• Support students and groups of students through intervention programming in accordance with DREAM's Response to Intervention;
• Write Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) for students in need when appropriate;
• Embrace and use school culture systems with all DREAM students;
• Collaborate with families to ensure a positive partnership by providing consistent communication aligning to student progress;
• Supervise and train paraprofessionals for students with mandated 1:1 supports in accordance with student BIPs;
• Manage the day-to-day work of students’ paraprofessionals when reviewing the student behavior intervention plan and discussing appropriate strategies when supporting the student, when appropriate;
• Initiate and maintain communication with outside student support agencies (SCR/ACS systems, foster care system) tied to student needs as needed;
• Participate in weekly individual supervision and monthly group supervision meetings;
• Additional duties related to the running of the school as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a similar field, required;
• New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor - Limited Permit (MHC-LP), OR School Psychologist with NYSED license or NYS DOE certification, required;
  • School Psychologists may carry a more limited counseling caseload, based on the number of psychoeducational evaluations assigned, in alignment with school needs and student support priorities.
  • Limited Permit holders will be able to accrue NYSED licensure hours through maintaining a caseload of 5-8 students for mandated counseling.
• Bilingual (Spanish speaker), highly preferred;
• 3-5 years of previous school-based counseling experience, preferred;
• At least 1 year of experience with IEPs, Special Education, or Early Intervention, preferred;
• Extensive experience utilizing evidence based therapeutic approaches with students and their families in diverse, underserved communities;
• Experience facilitating group therapy and providing crisis intervention (e.g., assessing for suicidality) with a trauma informed and restorative justice approach;
• Experience working with and navigating through the SCR/ACS systems, foster care system;
• Have a working knowledge of state regulations related to child abuse, neglect, and other urgent care issues;
• Skillful collaborator and case manager with the ability to bringing together all stakeholders to ensure youth is receiving all necessary supports and services;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
• A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.

Compensation

• The salary range for incoming Mental Health Providers with a Master's is $79,000 to $101,000 per year.
• Incoming salaries are determined based on their number of years of experience as a mental health provider and internal equity. Staff are eligible for annual performance-based salary increases. Because we value staff tenure in each role, we do not currently cap salary ranges.

Working Expectations

• Ability to work and split their time between any of our DREAM locations (primary location to start will likely be DREAM Charter High School, 20 Bruckner Blvd. Bronx)
• Ability to work with mandated (IEP/504) and at-risk students in grades PK-12.
• Travel between school sites is required; travel expenses between school sites will be covered by DREAM.
