Summary: The Multi-Process Operator – Cell Lead oversees daily operations across multiple aerospace work centers, coordinating operator activities and ensuring quality, safety, and production output. This role is responsible for hands-on operation of equipment, workflow coordination, and accurate MRP-driven work order management across machining, forming, heat treating, and finishing processes.
- Coordinate daily workflow across all cell work centers:
- Assign tasks, balance workloads, and track progress against production schedules.
- Serve as primary technical resource for troubleshooting equipment, tooling, and process issues.
- Maintain strong communication with supervisors, engineering, quality, and planning.
- Set up, operate, and verify equipment in multiple work centers, including CNC machining (Haas, Komo), forming (stretch form, hydro form, hot joggle), press operations (Trumpf, Versun), heat treat/age ovens, routers, straightening, deburring, contouring, and manual machining (Bridgeport).
- Directly responsible for production output of cell(s), ensuring schedule and tact is attained with minimum scrap or waste.
- Manages KPIS and production metrics; monitors and provides solutions to maintain green reporting. Comfortable reporting out metrics status and recommendations to solve problems.
- Read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings, blueprints, processes, and specs.
- Identify opportunities to optimize setups, reduce cycle times, and increase uptime.
- Verify part conformance using gauges, fixtures, and inspection tools.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements.
- Maintain proper completion of all production, shop traveler, and quality documents.
- Support nonconformance investigations and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Quality on first-article inspections, process verification, and audits
- Enforce safety standards, PPE use, and machine operation procedures.
- Support 5S and Lean initiatives to improve flow, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Train and mentor operators to build multi-skilled capabilities across work centers.
