Job summary

WJAR in Providence, RI is seeking a multi-platform Meteorologist to join Storm Team 10. You will forecast, produce, and present weather segments for broadcast, digital, and social platforms, and work with fellow meteorologists to craft compelling weather content.

You will issue warnings, create graphics, report live during events, and appear publicly. The role requires at least two years of on-air weather experience, a degree in atmospheric sciences or broadcast journalism, and strong social

Qualifications

• Two years of experience presenting weather and producing forecasts.
• Degree in Atmospheric Sciences, Meteorology or Broadcast Journalism.
• Strong understanding of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other social media to help build content.
• Familiarity with WSI weather technology, Total Traffic systems, and Avid is a plus.
• Willing to work overnights, weekends, or holidays in a 24/7 news environment.

Responsibilities

• Forecasting, Producing, and Presenting weather casts that tell a story and connect with viewers.
• Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events.
• Utilize social media during severe weather and write weather stories.
• Make public appearances on behalf of the station.
• Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations.
