Job summary

TEGNA's WQAD-TV Davenport is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to tell compelling stories across TV, web, and social platforms. You will shoot, write, and edit under deadlines.

Current driver's license required; knowledge of Davenport is a plus. Develop story ideas, identify sources, and produce engaging, authentic local news.

Qualifications

• 0–1 year reporting experience preferred.
• Strong news judgment and communication skills.
• Excellent writing, production, and tease writing abilities.
• ENPS, EDIUS and Axis graphics experience preferred.
• Organized and able to work under tight deadlines.
• Able to calmly handle live breaking news situations.
• Proven social and digital content creation ability.
• Knowledge of Davenport a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform live shots in developing or breaking news.
• Develop story ideas.
• Mine the community to find sources who will inform you about events and ideas in their areas of expertise.
• Identify, write and produce stories within a specific framework.
• Research for facts and credibility.
• Maintain and develop sources to enhance reporting.
• Shoot, write, produce and edit content on air and online.
• Use graphics and new media to enhance stories.
• Use social media to research and distribute content.
• Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily.
• Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
