Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Multi Modality Technologist I to rotate through imaging departments including general radiography, OR imaging, pain management procedures, and CT.

Under general supervision, you will perform imaging across at least two modalities, select factors, administer contrast, and ensure compliance and patient safety. A strong team mindset and adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, Certificate, or advanced degree in radiologic technology from an accredited program.
• Working competency in an additional modality.
• No experience required.
• ARRT registration preferred; CT imaging experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine imaging in general radiology and in at least one additional modality (CT, MRI, Mammography, or Interventional Radiology) per protocol.
• Sets appropriate technical factors for each patient.
• Administers contrast media per policy.
• Applies radiology principles including anatomy, safety, positioning.
• Complies with Joint Commission and regulatory standards.
• Documents patient care activity in electronic health records.
• Maintains area and supplies, and reports equipment or environmental problems.
• Participates in performance improvement to enhance workflow and patient experience.
• Participates in training and educational activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Potential sign on bonus offered! This position is 8:30–5 Monday through Friday with one night call during the week and call every fifth weekend. (not called in often) The Multi Modality Technologist I position involves comprehensive rotation through various imaging departments, including general X-ray, Operating Room (OR) imaging, Pain Management procedures, and Computed Tomography (CT). Candidates must possess a thorough understanding and practical knowledge of all these modalities to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient workflow. This role requires adaptability, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Under general supervision, performs routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures in at least two imaging modalities.

• Executes basic clinical competence in general radiology, in all locations across all patient types; in addition, performs exams and procedures as needed in one of the following modalities: CT, MRI, Mammography, and/or Interventional Radiology in accordance to facility protocols.
• Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
• Administers contrast according to facility policy.
• Applies knowledge of radiology principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation/MR safety and physics, patient positioning and patient care skills.
• Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
• Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
• Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Maintains supplies and inventory in area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors. Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems in accordance with policy.
• Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality.
• Actively participates in student and employee training and educational activities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

• Associate degree, Certificate, or advanced degree in radiologic technology, or modalities of employment, from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
• Working competency in additional modality
• No experience required
• Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT)Preferred:Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with X-ray and CT imaging techniques, including patient positioning, image acquisition, and quality control to ensure accurate diagnostic results. Prefer CT experience.
