Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Casa Grande, AZ, is hiring a Multi Craft Technician for night shift (6pm–6am) in the Nutrition manufacturing facility. You will work with Operations to minimize downtime, diagnose and repair complex equipment, and perform preventive maintenance on filling, packaging, and conveying systems.

You will read schematics, execute autonomous maintenance, and participate in continuous improvement with Engineering and Manufacturing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 2+ years of multi-craft maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, PLC troubleshooting, and fabrication skills.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and use precision tools.

Responsibilities

• Be a key team member with Operations to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair high-speed filling, packaging, and conveying systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance and major repairs during shutdowns.
• Fabricate and upgrade components; perform PLC changes and drive system maintenance.
• Collaborate with Engineering/Manufacturing on design changes and improvements.
• Train and mentor teammates; provide technical guidance.

What You’ll Work On

• Be a Key Team Member: Work alongside Operations to minimize downtime and keep production on schedule.

• Troubleshoot & Repair: Diagnose complex equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and repair high-speed filling, packaging, and conveying systems.

• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Execute PMs, support autonomous maintenance, and plan major repairs during scheduled shutdowns.

• Fabricate & Upgrade: Design, weld, and install mechanical and electronic components; perform PLC program changes and maintain AC drive systems.

• Collaborate & Improve: Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to implement design changes and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Train & Mentor: Share your expertise with peers and provide technical guidance to improve team capabilities.

• Ensure Compliance: Follow GMP, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and company safety standards in all tasks.

Shift

Please note: This is a 12-hour Night shift position from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM and allows you to have every other weekend off.

Shift Pattern

• Week 1: Wed & Thurs (12 hrs)

• Week 2: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun (12 hrs)

• Week 3: Wed & Thurs (12 hrs)

• Week 4: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun (12 hrs)

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.

• 2+ years of multi-craft maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong skills in mechanical, electrical, PLC troubleshooting, and fabrication.

• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and use precision tools.

• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a regulated manufacturing work environment

The base pay for this position is $20.85 – $41.75 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
