Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in La Mirada, CA is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician III to support our corrugated packaging facility. You will work on industrial electrical, process controls, and mechanical systems while contributing to safety and equipment uptime.

This full-time role requires 2+ years of maintenance experience, PLC/VFD troubleshooting, and the ability to work nights (6:00 pm–6:00 am) with overtime as needed. Starting pay is $39.40 per hour with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of maintenance experience in industrial, manufacturing, or military environments.
• Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical control power circuits and 3-phase motor systems (12 VDC to 480 VAC).
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Experience using precision maintenance tools (transfer punches, feeler gauges, calipers, belt tension, sheave alignment).
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems (belt drives, gears, conveyors, valves) in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe work environment by following all plant safety and environmental policies and guidelines.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot issues, restore equipment, and prevent repeat failures.
• Perform routine, scheduled preventive maintenance to support equipment reliability.
• Respond to unplanned downtime with timely troubleshooting and corrective repairs.
• Document completed work, parts used, and equipment history in the CMMS.
• Apply knowledge of industrial electrical and process control systems.
• Apply knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Safely use hand and power tools and precision measuring devices.
• Provide basic hand tools and rolling toolbox as needed.

• Ability to safely use hand and power tools, precision‑measuring devices, and test instruments.
• Willingness and ability to work any shift and, as needed, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Ability to provide basic hand tools and a rolling toolbox.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment.
• Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical control power circuits and 3-phase motor systems (12 VDC to 480 VAC).
• Experience troubleshooting PLC‑controlled equipment and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Experience using precision maintenance tools such as transfer punches, feeler gauges, calipers, drive belt tension, and sheeve alignment.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems such as chain and belt drives, couplings, gearboxes, powered conveyors, actuated valves, and welding/fabrication in an industrial setting.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic power transmission systems.

What Will Put You Ahead

Preferred Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in a corrugated packaging operation.
• Technical degree, apprenticeship, or certificate in electrical, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
• Advanced industrial electrical troubleshooting skills, including 3-phase power distribution, motor controls, and programming VFDs.
• Experience programming PLCs (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley).
• Knowledge of industrial automation and robotics systems (FANUC, Kawasaki).
• Advanced ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong CMMS experience, including accurate work‑order documentation and equipment history tracking.

For this role, we anticipate paying $39.40 per hour.
