Responsibilities
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following all Covestro standard operating procedures.
  • Repair and maintain process control systems, programmable logic controllers, HMI programs, laboratory instrumentation, and electrical controls.
  • Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as extruders, pelletizers, screeners, vacuum pumps, heat exchangers, electric motors, and compressors.
  • Troubleshoot issues with HVAC systems, cooling towers and chillers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs; program control systems.
  • Monitor project start‑ups and design electrical systems and instrument control loops.
  • Evaluate instrument and electrical hardware; communicate with manufacturer’s field engineers as needed.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for parts and equipment; repair or replace defective parts using hand or power tools.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all systems and equipment; troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform basic pipefitting tasks; dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools.
  • Lubricate and clean parts; coordinate and schedule projects with maintenance, production, laboratory and storeroom.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
  • Install and remove machines utilizing various rigging devices; examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Repair and maintain HVAC systems, cooling towers and chillers; repair barrel cooling systems (steam).
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and pneumatic control systems.
  • Required to take WorkKeys Test and receive qualifying scores on Workplace Documents (6), Applied Math (6), Applied Technology (5) and Graphic Literacy (5).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Electromechanical Technology or closely related field and 2 years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and pneumatic control systems.
  • Experience using Allen Bradley equipment.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Obtain and maintain a valid forklift license.
  • Ability to read and understand diagrams, sketches, operation manuals.
  • Ability to operate Windows‑based computer systems and use SAP system to perform maintenance and engineering tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
