Job description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

About the team:

Join eBay's Homepage Native Engineering team and help shape the discovery experience for hundreds of millions of buyers around the world.

The Homepage is the first thing buyers see when they open the eBay app — a high-traffic, high-impact surface that drives engagement, personalization, and commerce at scale. Our team builds innovative, high-quality Android experiences that make discovering the things buyers love more intuitive, relevant, and fabulous. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, backend, and platform partners on meaningful projects — from personalizedrecommendation modules to real-time commerce features and a modern modular architecture. We're an encouraging, inclusive, and highly collaborative team where engineers are encouraged to take ownership, influence technical direction, and turn ambitious ideas into real customer impact.

What you will accomplish
  • Develop and deliver native Android features end-to-end — from technical development through coding, testing, deployment, and production support — demonstrating a deep dedication to ownership and quality.

  • Contribute to architecture decisions that shape the Homepage Android experience and align with eBay's broader mobileplatform strategy.

  • Drive complex projects across multiple turning points, proactively identifying risks and working multi-functionally to keep delivery on track.

  • Raise the engineering bar through thoughtful code and build reviews, mentoring teammates, and contributing to team coding standards and guidelines.

  • Find opportunities to improve engineering velocity through reusable components, tooling, and better patterns within the Android codebase.

  • Share knowledge with the team and broader Android community to foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

What you will bring
  • 6+ years of professional experience in native Android development using Kotlin (and familiarity with Java).

  • Deep proficiency in Jetpack Compose and the Android View system, with a strong grasp of when and how to apply each effectively.

  • Solid understanding of Android architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture) and modular app design at scale.

  • Strong networking skills, including experience with GraphQL and RESTful APIs in a consumer Android context.

  • Excellent decision-making skills — able to navigate ambiguity, weigh trade-offs, and drive sound technical choices with good judgment.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and design.

  • Experience in mentoring peers and contributing positively to team culture and engineering practices.

  • High learning ability, dedicated with a growth mindset — eager to grow both technically and in cross-functional ways.

  • Experience with dependency management tools such as Gradle, along with knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for mobile development.
