Job summary

XCEL NDT, LLC is seeking an NDE Technician Level II to perform calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection according to written instructions and record results.

This role includes setting up equipment, interpreting results to codes and standards, reporting findings, and possibly supervising assistants. Candidates should have NDT Level II RT with state card; MT/PT/UTT preferred; must pass background and drug screens.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections.
• Knowledge of NDT equipment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent Requirements.
• Complete and pass a DISA Background check.
• Complete and pass all required Drug Screens.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
• Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.

• Interpret radiographs, CRT or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators.
• Organize and report test results.
• Perform specialized inspections.
• May instruct and supervise others.

Job Details

The NDE Technician will be performing calibrations, Nondestructive Tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Level II Technicians are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of Assistants and Level I Technicians.

Level II Technicians organize and report results of NDT.

  Work Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Move, carry and lift objects in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Climb and perform work from ladders, stairs and scaffolding in excess of 100 feet, continuously throughout shift.
  • Be able to climb ladders and platforms up to 250 feet with a harness and lanyard.
  • Be able to step up into vehicles or onto equipment.
  • Work extended hours and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold.
  • Work in and near industrial hazards.
