Job summary

Berger Health System seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to oversee technical operations, ensuring accurate patient test results and driving quality assurance across the Core Lab.

You will train staff, implement new instruments and methods, and maintain compliance with accrediting standards while supporting safety and efficiency in daily workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or related field.
  • ASCP (or equivalent AMT) certification required within two years of hire.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in patient care or clinical laboratory settings.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conducts advanced analyses of body fluids and tissues and interprets data before results are released for patient care.
  • Develops and reviews quality control measures and participates in proficiency testing.
  • Trains staff and ensures competency and regulatory compliance with ongoing education.
  • Keeps instrument records and documentation for inspectors and accrediting agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Assesses the accuracy of all analytical data before results are released for patient diagnosis and treatment purposes. Interprets information by applying judgment and making decisions based on technical procedures and instrumentation. Possesses an understanding of how to correlate medical data, recognize links between various laboratory parameters, consider physiological influences, and understand how different medications and treatments may impact results.30% Develops and reviews quality control measures, examines peer data, and participates in proficiency testing. Troubleshoots issues by analyzing complex information. Validates methods and ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory activities.15% Engages in ongoing education and competency development to stay updated within the field. Provides training for new team members and students, fulfilling competency and mandatory educational requirements.
