Job summary

Lamar Middle School in Irving, Texas is seeking a dedicated Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join Irving ISD. The educator will deliver core social studies instruction aligned with TEKS, using data-driven strategies to support student growth and achievement.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate, with Elementary Reading Academy requirement noted and ESL certification preferred. In-person, 187-day contract with salary steps per district policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate for subject/level assigned.
• Completion of Texas Reading Academy required for Elementary (not mandatory for MS).
• ESL Supplemental Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation.
• Present the subject matter according to TEA guidelines, board policies, and regulations.
• Use data to plan and implement instructional strategies and materials with accommodations for individual needs.
• Cooperate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs.
• Collaborate with staff to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.
• Establish and maintain open communication with students and parents/guardians.
• Participate in district/campus professional development and improvement.
