Position Summary

Opportunity Charter School is actively seeking a dynamic and well‑versed teacher who can effectively cater to the diverse needs of our exceptional student body. The ideal candidate will excel in cultivating strong, trusting relationships with students, fostering a welcoming and secure learning environment that promotes academic risk‑taking. OCS teachers are data‑driven, possesses the skill to identify and address the individual needs of their students, and passionately advocates for our school's vision in every interaction with stakeholders.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Opportunity Charter School is not able to provide Visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject matter and a genuine passion for fostering a love of learning in students.
  • Engage in reflective practices, continually evaluating and refining teaching methods to enhance effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create, implement, and regularly review individualized education plans for students with special needs.
  • Design and implement instructional plans aligned with curriculum standards, ensuring relevance and engagement for students.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students with special needs.
  • Lead an advisory group and oversee the implementation of our social‑emotional curriculum within that class.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, implementing effective behavior management strategies as needed.
  • Handle conflicts or challenges within the classroom, promoting a respectful and supportive learning community using restorative practices.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' academic and developmental levels, and regularly monitor and document progress, adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to ensure the utilization of best practices with students.
  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in education through ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, actively modeling cooperation and helpfulness for students.
  • Incorporate relevant technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences, promoting digital literacy skills.
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, keeping them informed about progress, expectations, and any concerns.
  • Promote a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment that respects and values diversity.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree preferred

  • 8 hour shift
