Exponent is seeking a Managing Fire Protection Engineer to lead the Thermal Sciences practice in multiple U.S. locations, including Natick, MA. The role involves reviewing fire codes, analyzing protection systems, and coordinating lab testing while managing multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• MS/Eng/PhD in Fire Protection Engineering required or equivalent.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; no sponsorship.
• PE license strongly preferred.
• Strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion.
• Minimum of 5 years in Fire Protection Engineering.
• Business development experience with a track record of attracting clients or funding.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor technical staff.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to tackle a wide variety of problems beyond core area.
• Experience with prescriptive or performance-based analysis and NFPA/ICC/UL/ASTM/UL standards.
• Hands-on experience in fire protection system design, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality technical work for clients including code reviews and system analyses.
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams on complex projects with tight deadlines.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with other technical experts.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities.
• Manage projects and build strong client relationships.
• Prepare proposals and technical reports and present findings to clients.
