Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX seeks a part-time Coach to support student athletes during the 26-27 academic year. Compensation is $20.00 per hour for 4-5 hours per week across 6-8 weeks, reporting to the Athletic Director.

Responsibilities include organizing practices and games, monitoring academics, maintaining uniforms, and ensuring a safety-first, student-first program within a high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of coaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of the sport including rules and terminology.
• Must hold a valid CPR and AED certification from a national organization, or complete district training within a set time frame.

Responsibilities

• Organizing practices and games.
• Monitoring the academic progress of student athletes throughout the school year.
• Include issuing and collecting uniforms.
• Providing an orientation of a sound program to all student athlete participants.
• Communicating with coaches and athletic director on player progression.
• Realizing the athlete is a student first; academics have priority over athletics.
• Being on time to all scheduled athletic events.
• Practicing with a plan and purpose.
• Training each student-athlete to become in the best physical condition as possible.
• Putting the team first, and the individual second.
• Staying with the team until the last student-athlete and their parents/guardians.
• Collecting athlete documentation such as physicals and other important paperwork in an Athletics Binder to remain compliant.
• Additional duties as assigned.
