Job summary

Golden State Foods is seeking an MRO Supervisor to oversee inventory management, procurement, and invoice processing in a manufacturing environment. You will lead MRO staff, drive accuracy, and foster continuous improvement across supply and maintenance operations.

MRO Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) inventory management, procurement activities, invoice processing, cycle count execution, and warehouse operations to ensure uninterrupted support of plant maintenance activities. This position provides leadership to MRO personnel, drives inventory accuracy, manages supplier relationships, and ensures accountability for all MRO processes. The MRO Supervisor is expected to foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Inventory Management and Control (20%)

• Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure inventory integrity through effective cycle count and audit programs.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure critical spare parts are available to support maintenance operations.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Reduce inventory variances and improve overall inventory accuracy through process discipline and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all inventory transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Procurement and Invoice Management (20%)

• Coordinate the procurement of MRO materials and services to meet operational requirements.
• Ensure invoices are processed accurately and within established timelines.
• Manage supplier relationships, including vendor-managed inventory programs and key suppliers such as Fastenal.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
• Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements.

Leadership and Accountability (30%)

• Supervise and develop MRO staff by establishing clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability measures.
• Provide training and coaching to ensure employees understand and follow MRO processes.
• Take ownership of departmental performance and results.
• Ensure team members perform inventory control activities accurately and consistently.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Financial Stewardship (10%)

• Manage inventory assets responsibly to minimize write-offs, obsolescence, and unnecessary expenditures.
• Monitor inventory-related financial performance and identify opportunities to reduce costs.
• Support annual budgeting processes and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Ensure inventory records support accurate financial reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)

• Partner closely with Maintenance Managers, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure parts availability and process alignment.
• Communicate inventory concerns, usage trends, and process improvement opportunities effectively.
• Provide training and guidance on inventory reports, material issuance processes, and inventory controls.
• Build collaborative relationships focused on problem-solving and operational excellence.

Continuous Improvement (10%)

• Conduct root cause analysis on inventory variances, stockouts, emergency purchases, and process failures.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
• Reduce emergency part orders through improved planning, inventory management, and forecasting.
• Track and report performance metrics and drive improvement initiatives.

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES:

• Climb stairs and ladders.
• Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance.
• Operator Forklift.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
• Stand/walk 8 or more hours per day.
• Constantly bend, reach, twist/turn, talk/hear and taste/smell.
• Constantly use eye/hand and eye/hand/foot coordination to use tools and operate machinery.
• Frequently squat and grip/grasp buckets, hoses and brushes.
• Frequently handle/finger and fine motor tasks to remove equipment, plastic wrap, and tools
• Frequently lift less than 5 lbs from floor to overhead and carry 100 feet.
• Occasionally kneel/crawl and climb stairs/ladders.
• Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs from floor to waist.
• Occasionally carry up to 100 lbs 25 feet.Occasionally carry up to 50 lbs 100 feet.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:

• Constantly work in damp, wet, humid and slippery environments.
• Constantly work near moving equipment with fumes or airborne debris.
• Constantly work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Constantly work in extreme heat/cold (68-80 degrees).
• Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
• Frequently work in high places.

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in materials/logistics management, accounting, or business from an accredited college or university
• DOT Hazmat Certification

Experience:

5-7 years of relevant work experience in purchasing and expediting in an automated manufacturing environment.Supervisory experience.
