Job summary

Norton Healthcare in Louisville, KY is seeking an MRI Technologist to operate imaging equipment and produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with safety and quality standards. You will prepare patients, explain procedures, position them correctly, and monitor for comfort and safety during scans.

This WOW position requires working weekends with premium pay and shift differentials. You may train students and participate in ongoing quality control and infection control practices.

Qualifications

• Completion of an MRI educational program or eligible to obtain MR-ARRT or ARMRIT certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images meeting standards.
• Prepare patients for procedures, educate and respond to questions, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Position patients correctly and apply imaging techniques while maintaining infection control and safety.
• Oversee training of students providing patient care during their rotation.

Job description

Responsibilities

This is a WOW (Work on Weekends) position. Schedules for WOW employees include every weekend (Nights - Friday & Saturday, Days - Saturday & Sunday). Employees in designated WOW positions earn premium pay in addition to their competitive hourly rates and shift differential.

The MRI Technologist utilizes imaging, computer and other equipment as appropriate to produce and retain high quality diagnostic images which meet or exceed department, organizational and industry standards. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the human anatomy, physiology, as well as image quality. Applying professional knowledge, prepares patients for the procedure, educates and responds to questions or concerns. Ensures age-appropriate approach to communication, safety needs, patient education and principles of physical/functional growth and development. Demonstrates an understanding of patient positioning, imaging technique, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Safety, imaging equipment, infection control, and quality control techniques. Oversees and trains students providing patient care, treatment and services as part of their training.
