AHS - Sherman Medical Center is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform MR imaging in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines. The role involves patient preparation, image acquisition, labeling, and documentation within the department's information systems.

The incumbent will work with the clinical team to ensure high-quality imaging, safety compliance, and timely reporting. Candidates should have MRI experience, AMA-approved training, and BLS certification, with venipuncture

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program or MRI course.
  • At least 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist.
  • ARMRIT.SRTT in MRI certification preferred; if no MRI certification, 5 years experience.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
  • Venipuncture required.

  • Proficient in the use of emergency equipment and checks crash cart.
  • Maintains proficiency with unit-specific equipment and reports malfunctions.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for the performance of all aspects of MR imaging, accurately and in accordance with established procedures and policies in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in patients of all groups. Follows all regulatory guidelines and MRI safety precautions. Maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in department expectations and professional organizations. Contributes to total patient care by accessing pertinent patient information, processes images, assures correct images, accurate billing and file documentation, records information related to exams into department computer system. Performs other activities in support of clinical team members when not engaged in imaging activities.

  • 1. ARMRIT.SRTT in MRI certification is preferred; if there is no certification in MRI, Need 5 years experience.
  • 2. At least 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist.
  • 3. Must be a graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program or MRI course.
  • 4. Current BLS certificate upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
  • 5. Venipuncture required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1. Recognizes changes in patient’s condition and notifies appropriate RN or physician.
  • 2. Proficient in the use of emergency equipment (e.g. checks crash cart according to policy).
  • 3. Maintains proficiency with unit specific equipment troubleshoots and reports malfunctions promptly.
  • 4. Applies immobilization devices and/or shielding as required.
  • 5. Assist in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs and radiographic tables using appropriate body mechanics.
  • 6. Performs diagnostic MR Imaging including general studies, contrasted scans, and spectroscopy following all appropriate legal licensure, regulatory and professional practice standards and requirements according to established protocols, policies and procedures.
  • 7. Performs tasks according to department protocols and procedures.
  • 8. Marks images with correct labels.
  • 9. Utilizes correct and adequate skills to achieve the best image sequencing for the body part being examined.
  • 10. Communicates prep and aftercare instructions to patient and or family as appropriate to job responsibilities.
  • 11. Recognizes the importance of the exam and reassures patient regarding issues of claustrophobia. Capable of talking a patient through the exam or recognizing when to quit.
  • 12. Takes steps to complete any information that is missing. Ensures that there are comparative films for the radiologist’s interpretation as appropriate to job responsibilities.
  • 13. Ensures continuity over time among the phases of services to the patients. Notifies the patient of any wait > 15 minutes or any repeats reasons or delays for immediate interpretations.
  • 14. Consistently completes the computer functions necessary to document each patient visit including: Start/Stop times, allergies and all required technical data points.
  • 15. Attends and maintains mandatory training in safe patient handling and safe lifting techniques.
  • 16. Maintains regular attendance.
  • 17. Other duties as assigned or required.
