Job summary

MedQuest Imaging is seeking a PRN MRI Technologist to join our Charleston-area centers. This role offers premium PRN pay and a weekend differential, with flexible shifts to fit your availability.

You will perform MRI procedures, ensure patient safety, prepare and position patients, and review orders to optimize imaging quality. This position supports multiple imaging centers and may involve cross-site coverage.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
• ARRT registered with advanced MRI registry.
• Maintain required CEUs to keep certification active.
• Active state licensure, when applicable.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI scans with attention to safety and quality.
• Screen for ferrous and RF materials before scanning.
• Position patients and select immobilization devices as needed.
• Review physician requests and select scanning parameters.
• Document patient data and archive images per guidelines.
• Maintain equipment and ensure image quality and safety.

Job description

This is a PRN MRI Technologist opportunity offering premium PRN pay, with an additional shift differential for weekend coverage.

Schedule Options

• Weekday coverage: Monday or Friday
• Weekend coverage: Saturday and/or Sunday

Shifts are flexible based on availability and department needs.

Responsibilities

• Complete scans effectively and efficiently:
  • Collect pertinent data about the patient and the procedure
  • Select the most appropriate, cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient’s abilities and condition
  • Screen the patient for ferrous and RF-sensitive material before the patient enters the magnetic field
  • Position and prepare patients for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures
  • Select appropriate immobilization devices
  • Review the patient’s chart and the physician’s request to determine optimal scanning parameters for the suspected pathology
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Enter necessary patient information to initiate the scan(s)
  • Assess and monitor the patient’s physical and mental status throughout the procedure
  • Review images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure
  • Document diagnostic, treatment and patient data in the appropriate record. Documentation must be timely, accurate, concise and complete.
  • Archive images to data storage devices according to established guidelines
  • Keep workflow in such a manner that it is an effective use of time, equipment and supplies
• Maintain the highest standards of patient care possible:
  • Implement and maintain the MedQuest Best Customer Service Program
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique
  • Exhibit a high level of technical competence and clinical judgment
  • Ensure that the required supplies and equipment are available
  • Check all equipment routinely and perform preventive maintenance when necessary
  • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, peers and all members of the healthcare team
  • Maintain a safe environment by monitoring cryogens
• Ensure the Center’s compliance with MedQuest Policy procedures, OSHA, local, state and Federal regulatory requirements:
  • Follow radiation protection guidelines
  • Participate in formal training and service programs
  • Ensure that deadlines are met with regards to reports
  • Perform quality assurance activities based on established quality protocols
  • Document quality assurance activities and results
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to medical records and other data
• Continuing Education:
  • Cross-train for additional modalities within the center
  • Complete and retain certification in MRI technology
  • Build education files on an outstanding or interesting case
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
• ARRT registered with advanced registry in MRI
• Must complete required CEU’s in a timely manner to ensure Certification remains active
• Active state licensure, where applicable
• CPR Certification is required

Prior Experience

• 0+ years of experience as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist, required
• 2+ years of experience as an MRI Technologist, preferred

• IV skills required
• Knowledge of MRI procedures and standards
• Demonstrate adequate knowledge of anatomy
• Skill in operation of MRI equipment
• Customer service background and focus
