Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a licensed MRI Technologist to perform and assist with MRI procedures, acquire and analyze data for diagnosis, and document medication activities in compliance with laws and regulations.

In this role you will ensure patient safety, administer medications as prescribed, educate students and colleagues, and participate in quality improvement while adhering to ALARA principles in a busy clinical environment.

Qualifications

• ARRT MR certification is required.
• ARMRIT certification is required.
• NMTCB certification is required.
• Graduate from Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology.

Responsibilities

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and documented.
• Utilizes imaging protocol and optimizes factors while maximizing patient safety and ALARA principles.
• Preparing and administering medications through vascular access as prescribed.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and data transfer; post processing as applicable.
• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
• Applying principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients and staff.
• Assisting licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
• Performing MRI procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Selecting pulse sequences considering established protocols and data acquisition parameters.
• Demonstrates commitment to department priorities and quality initiatives.

Job Summary

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologists are responsible for the use of radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. MRI technologists performs magnetic resonance imaging and acquire and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Magnetic resonance technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of magnetic resonance imaging procedures. Magnetic resonance technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to medications in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.

Job Duties

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
• Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
• Applying principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
• Assisting the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
• Performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Selecting appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
• Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
• Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.
• Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.

• Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB)

Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)
