Job summary

Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a dedicated MRI Technologist for a full-time evening shift (Tuesday–Friday, 11:00am–9:30pm) with on-call duties. The role offers a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

This position requires graduate status in radiography, MRI certification, and ARRT/ARMIT/CAMRT eligibility. The hospital emphasizes safety, quality care, and professional development for its 26,000+ member team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of radiography.
• MRI certification from ARMRIT/ARRT recognized.
• CAMRT certification appropriate for region.
• ARRT MRI certification or Registry eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Administers MRI procedures according to department standards and ensures patient safety.
• Communicates with patients to obtain history and consent; eases anxiety during exams.
• Assists physicians in examinations using standard protocols and sterile technique.
• Utilizes knowledge of IVs and contrast considerations as they pertain to MRI.
• Performs routine maintenance on MRI equipment to maintain image quality.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

MRI Technologist (MRI Tech) Job Responsibilities:

• The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist provides clinical services according to MRI practice standards and acts as a resource to MRI students and other technologists while ensuring optimal department functions. This position administers sound patient care practices according to department/hospital policies and procedures while ensuring patient safety.
• Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination. Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
• Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and/or sterile technique.
• Utilizes knowledge of IV's, heparin locks and central line usage as they pertain to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
• Performs/recognizes the need for routine maintenance of imagers/processors to maintain consistent quality images.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

• Graduate of an accredited school of radiography
• MRI certification from American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMIT)
• Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nuclear medicine with MRI training (must be MRI Registry eligible through ARRT).
• Certification:
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required upon start.
  • One of the following:
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered in radiography
    • American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMIT)
    • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification 18 months upon acceptance of the offer.
• Experience:
  • Prior experience preferred as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and/or MRI Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment or recent student at Inova Health System
