Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform MRI examinations and ensure high-quality imaging for patient care. You will communicate findings to radiologists and verify patient data in the RIS/HIS and PACS systems.

The role requires ARRT education or ARMRIT registration, an MRI registry within 1 year, and BLS certification within 3 months. Two years of staff technologist experience is preferred, with on-call and evening schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an ARRT recognized education program, or ARRT or ARMRIT registered, or ARRT or ARMRIT registry eligible.
• Advanced MRI registry required within 1 year of hire.
• Two years of experience as a staff technologist preferred.
• 1-year experience as an MRI technologist preferred.
• Current BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI examinations on patients according to department procedures and under supervision.
• Communicate clinical observations to radiologists during MRI.
• Present clinical history to radiologist as recorded on documentation.
• Demonstrate venipuncture competency for contrast administration during MRI.
• Ensure RIS/HIS modules are used correctly in daily work.
• Assist in data gathering and support Radiology QA/PI programs.
• Adhere to downtime procedures to maintain continuity of care.
• Pursue own professional development through in-services and continuing education.
• Provide patient education regarding the examination and process.
• Ensure accuracy of patient data in PACS and verify correct patient selection.
• Review patient safety checklist prior to imaging.
• Contribute to department goals and patient satisfaction initiatives.

Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 3 :00 pm-1:00 am. On Call included

The MRI Technologist performs MRI examinations on patients based on department procedures and under direction of department Section Chief and Manager.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the successful technical continuity of care for patients receiving MRI studies.
• Communicates to radiologists clinical observations made during MRI examination.
• Presents clinical history as recorded on appropriate documentation to radiologist.
• Demonstrates competency in venipuncture skill for patients requiring contrast administration during MRI studies.
• Demonstrates competency in the knowledge of the RIS/HIS modules appropriate to their job responsibilities.
• Assists in gathering, recording data and serving as committee member for Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement program.
• Accurately adheres to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is available resulting in excellent continuity of care for patients.
• Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs.
• Provides educational information to the patient regarding their examination.
• Accountable for quality of digital images sent to PACS. Verify correct patient is selected from worklist, ensures accuracy of Medical Record information prior to being sent to PACS.
• Reviews patient safety checklist prior to patient's study.
• Responsible for the success of the department to achieve Press Ganey goal. Every patient should receive patient education and your personalized business card. Apology cards should be sent or given to all patients when we do not meet their expectations.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

• Frequent use of fingers and hands to operate equipment and chart information.
• Sitting for up to 5 hours in 50-minute increments.
• Standing and walking for up to 3 hours in 15-minute increments.
• Pushing, pulling and lifting of patients up to 400 pounds with assistance.
• Occasional stooping, lifting and raising arms above shoulder level.
• Lifting and moving of objects of up to 30 pounds.
• Hearing as it relates to normal conversation.
• Seeing as it relates to normal vision.
• Must not have any metal implants or pacemaker, which would be a contraindication to work around the MRI magnet.

EDUCATION:
