Job summary

The MRI Technologist at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton, Wisconsin, performs MRI exams on patients of all ages, applying principles and techniques of magnetic resonance imaging to provide acceptable diagnostic quality images while adhering to safety standards. Schedule: PM shifts, 8-hour days, 32 hours per week, 0.8 FTE.

Qualified candidates graduate from an accredited radiography program, obtain MRI certification within 18 months of hire, and hold ARRT certification and BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
• Advanced certification in MRI within 18 months of hire.
• ARRT certification and BLS from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional, empathetic, and compassionate care to patients and families.
• Greets patients, assists with dressing/undressing, transports or ambulates patients, and assists with comfort needs.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of MRI equipment and safety practices.
• Sets appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
• Demonstrates competency in intravenous access and administration of contrast per protocol.
• Recognizes and responds to contrast reactions and documents events properly.
• Completes department tasks like stocking, safety audits, and room/equipment cleaning.
• Promotes patient privacy, comfort, and education regarding the exam.
• Follows ALARA principles and infection prevention practices.
• Documents on time in the EMR and ensures accurate image management.

Education

Graduate of an accredited radiography program.

Advanced certification in MRI within 18 months of hire.
