Job description

Job Overview

Fairivew Health Services is looking for a MRI Technologist for our Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN . Imaging Technologists provide services to patients and physicians through the creation of high quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team.

Southdale offers 24/7 Imaging services to Inpatient Units and Emergency patients. Outpatient Imaging is offered 7 days per week. The technologist’s work collaboratively within the Imaging team and amongst varying levels of clinical practitioners. The multi-specialty imaging technologist will provide imaging services to a wide variety of examinations from Neuro, Body, Musculoskeletal, Breast and Vascular.

Position details:

  • This position will be paid as an alternative weekend employee
  • For each 12 hours of work, the employee will receive 18 hours of pay, equaling 72hrs per pay period
  • Schedule: Every Saturday and Sunday from 7:30AM - 7:30PM
  • Benefit eligible
  • This is an ADIT position

The MRI Technologist functions independently based on the problem-solving resolution boundaries of professional practice in performing all major work responsibilities. The Technologist is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements (ARRT).

Maintains and prioritizes work to achieve efficient patient outcomes

  • Performs individualized, conscientious patient care
  • Performs high quality examinations
  • Identifies relevant data from images accurately
  • Uses appropriate communication skills to meet patient/family, and other customer needs.
  • Communicates pertinent data clearly to the appropriate health care professional
  • Participates in crafting a culture of patient safety
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness
  • Verify patient identification and documentation
  • Connect with and educate patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam
  • Achieves quality diagnostic images through accurate patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol

Applies established professional guidelines and standards to sophisticated, routine, and non-routine diagnostic testing procedures

  • Ensures patient data integrity
  • Adheres to radiologic safety guidelines and diagnostic testing protocols/procedures
  • Accurately documents in compliance with regulatory agency requirements, completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, and billing status changes
  • Follows infection control guidelines
  • Serves as a resource for other healthcare team members
  • Responds appropriately to emergent situations
  • Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving
  • Assesses the validity of the test results to determine if consistent with changing physiological conditions or if due to possible interfering substances
  • Acts as a resource for problem-solving resolution
  • Completed all require continuing education to uphold their imaging licensure

Participates as an active team member

  • Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position
  • Cleans and maintains room and supplies
  • Provides coordinated services with customers and care partners to ensure high quality care.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment.

Accurately operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines

  • Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is working accurately.
  • Maintains a high level of proficiency
  • Follows MRI Safety protocols
  • Accepts new technology as it’s introduced into the facility
  • Participates in Quality Assurance testing as required by regulatory agencies and/or manufacturer recommendations

Required:

  • Current Registration with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support - from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Meet MRI Safety Screen requirements

Preferred:

  • Prior MRI experience (1-3 years Preferred)
  • ARRTMRI certification or successful completion within 18 months of hire
  • Experience with EPIC/Radiant
  • IV access proficiency
