Job summary

Atlantic Health System's radiology department in Hackettstown seeks an MRI technologist to create cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes using MRI equipment.

The role requires an associate degree in Radiology, NJ ARRT/ARMRIT license eligibility, and BLS certification. You will position patients, operate scanners, monitor safety, and ensure image quality.

Responsibilities

• Position patient on examining table and prepare coil placement as requested by Radiologist.
• Operate and adjust MRI sequences, monitor patient safety, and communicate with patient.
• Enter patient data and scan parameters into the system; ensure accurate image capture.
• Monitor images for quality and make note of any factors affecting clarity or safety.
• Maintain safety protocols to prevent metal exposure in the MRI environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for creating cross-sectional images of patient's body for diagnostic purposes, using magnetic resonance imaging equipment.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil (receiver) such as head coil or knee coil, close to area of interest, following protocols requested by Radiologist.
2. Demonstrates use of microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination.
3. Enters data, such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture of magnetic resonance imaging equipment (head or feet first), into computer.
4. Keys commands to specify scan sequences and adjust transmitters and receivers into computer.
5. Observes patient through window of control room and on closed circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort.
6. Views images of areas being scanned on video display screen to ensure quality of pictures.
7. Keys in data on keyboard of camera to photograph images.
8. Alerts staff entering magnet room to the danger of wearing or carrying metal around magnet.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

1. Associate's degree in Radiology and/or a graduate of an accredited radiology program required.
2. State License for ARRT candidates through the NJDEP, or MR Certified through ARMRIT
3. BLS certification.
