Job summary

Capitol Imaging Services in New Orleans, LA is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI procedures in an outpatient setting, ensuring patient safety and comfort while following imaging protocols.

You will operate MRI scanners, verify patient information, position patients, administer contrast as ordered, monitor for adverse reactions, and maintain thorough records in PACS/RIS, collaborating with radiologists and team to deliver accurate, timely imaging results.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist or MRI program.
  • Current ARRT (MR) certification or eligibility; ARRT (R) preferred.
  • Active state licensure (if applicable).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of MRI experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical training will be considered.
  • Knowledge of MRI safety standards, protocols, and equipment operation required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI scanners to produce diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists.
  • Verify patient identification, review exam requisitions, and confirm imaging protocols.
  • Prepare and position patients for MRI exams, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Administer contrast agents per physician orders and institutional protocols.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions or discomfort during scans.
  • Maintain detailed records of procedures and patient information in the PACS/RIS system.
  • Follow all MRI safety policies, including screening of patients, staff, and visitors for contraindications.
  • Regularly inspect equipment for proper function; report any technical issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate, timely imaging results.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain certification and stay current on imaging technology advancements.

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures in an outpatient setting, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and compliance with established imaging protocols.
