Qualifications

• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Specializes in performing routine and complex MRI procedures.
• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster comfort and confidence.
• Operates and maintains all assigned MRI equipment to ensure it works properly.
• Positions patients and utilizes equipment to capture the required images.
• Administers medications within the technologist’s scope as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Performs quality assurance and radiation safety to reduce exposure.
• Maintains documentation, logs, and records in paper and electronic formats.
• Maintains supply of consumables for quality testing.
• Performs maintenance and checks per protocol for all imaging equipment.
• May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Position Summary: Performs routine and complex Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures at a technical level that will produce high quality images consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Specializes in performing routine and complex MRI procedures.
• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
• Operates and maintains all assigned MRI equipment to ensure it works properly.
• Positions patients and utilizes equipment in order to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
• Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
• Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self.
• Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
• Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.
• Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
• May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.

• Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology.
• Advanced ARRT Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging .
• Current BLS certification.

Preferred:

• Associate degree in radiology.
