Job summary

Southwest Medical Imaging, LTD is seeking an MRI Technologist for night shift coverage across Paradise Valley and Scottsdale locations. You will perform high-quality MRI procedures, prepare and position patients, operate MRI equipment, and ensure accurate image acquisition per radiologist protocols while strictly following safety guidelines.

The role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to patient care.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • ARRT MRT CT MR certification must be obtained within 24 months.
  • CPR certification required.
  • IV skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Explain procedures to patients and obtain cooperation.
  • Position patients and ensure safety during scans.
  • Monitor image quality and adjust technique as needed.
  • Ensure MRI safety guidelines and screen for contraindications.
  • Enter data into PACS and RIS and maintain records.
  • Perform routine maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Work across multiple locations and varied shifts.

MRI Technologist Position Summary

The MRI Technologist (Night shift currently available covering our Paradise Valley and Scottsdale locations) is responsible for performing high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures in accordance with radiologist protocols and safety standards. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating MRI equipment, and ensuring accurate image acquisition and evaluation for diagnostic purposes. The technologist must maintain a safe environment by screening patients and personnel for contraindications and adhering to all MRI safety guidelines.

This position requires strong technical proficiency, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient care and departmental excellence. The technologist must be able to work collaboratively with radiologists, fellow technologists, and other healthcare professionals, while demonstrating flexibility to work across multiple locations and varied shifts. A focus on continuous learning, problem-solving, and customer service is essential to success in this role.

MRI Technologist Detailed Responsibilities
  • Explain procedure to patient, to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Requests removal of metal objects which are hazardous to patient and equipment when magnet is activated. Position and immobilize patient in exam scanners and observe during scan for patient safety.
  • Monitor video display of area being scanned and adjust technique to improve quality. Review and evaluate images for technical quality for diagnostic purposes.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
  • Able to answer patient, technologist and radiologist questions.
  • Must be able to go beyond duties in order to do what is best for the patients and department.
  • Screens all personnel prior to entering magnetic resonance imaging room to comply with all safety measures.
  • verify in PACS and complete work in RIS
  • Understands and demonstrates correct usage of necessary equipment to perform procedures.
  • Follows protocols requested by Radiologist.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of communication tool that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination.
  • Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture into computer.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and is responsible in arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Must be flexible to work at multiple locations, must be flexible to work varied shifts
  • All other duties as assigned.
