Job summary

Nemours Children’s Health in Orlando, FL is seeking an MRI Technologist (Full-Time) to perform MRI studies and provide total patient care in a pediatric environment. The role requires clear communication with patients, families, and medical staff.

Responsibilities include protocol-driven scanning, patient screening, IV/contrast administration support, and collaboration with Radiology leadership. Sunday–Tuesday work schedule and a strong focus on safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required.
• 6–12 months to 1 year experience required.
• MRI Certification (ARRT or ARMRIT) required upon hire.
• AHA BLS Certification required upon hire.
• Certified MRI Safety Officer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Magnetic Resonance imaging studies with attention to patient comfort and safety.
• Explain procedures and answer questions while obtaining patient cooperation.
• Screen for contraindications and coordinate with radiologists for contrast.
• Operate MRI equipment and scanning workstation according to protocol.

Nemours is seeking an MRI Technologist (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Orlando, Florida.

Work Schedule: Sunday - Tuesday

Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 130-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. This position is responsible for: Performing Magnetic Resonance imaging studies while providing a quality health care service that includes total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment. Excellent communication skills are essential to this position due to required continuous interaction with public and professional/ medical personnel. The MRI technologist should report to the Radiology Manager or Radiology Supervisor

Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.

• Responsible for working knowledge and operation of MRIs and scanning workstation.
• Knowledge of routine magnetic resonance imaging protocols along with performing patient examinations as protocolled by designated radiologist.
• Provides accurate room preparation and instructions to patient / family according to the procedure and physically prepares patient for examination which includes explaining the imaging procedure and answers pertinent procedural questions.
• Responsible for screening of patients to be imaged for contraindications that may be hazardous to their health or to the safety of others. Assists radiologists by evaluating patients and obtaining written screening for administration of contrast media. Starts IV’s and injects contrast material for imaging studies. Observes patient for allergic reaction after administration of contrast.
• Maintains work habits consistent with hospital and department policies, reports unsafe conditions and incidents to the immediate supervisor and demonstrates safe work habits. Operates hospital computer systems for patient data entry and retrieval/ order entry and completion of study.
• Determine proper scanning parameters and sequences according to protocols set by the radiologist. Ensures proper function of equipment by proper usage and maintenance.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care, as attached to the annual performance appraisal document, with respect to the appropriate specific chronological age, developmental age or social maturity of the patient.

• Regular attendance required.
• Good Communication skills are required. In addition to accepting feedback, asking questions and active communication with counterparts and all departments.

Job Requirements

• Associate's Degree required.
• Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year experience required.
• MRI certification required upon hire: ARRT or ARMRIT.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire and must maintain.
• Certified MRI Safety Officer, MRSO preferred.
