Job summary

The Orthopaedic Institute in Ocala, FL is seeking an MRI Technologist to operate MRI equipment and produce high-quality images for physician diagnoses. The role requires ARRT or ARMRIT MRI certification and an active Florida Radiologic Technologist license, with at least one year of experience preferred.

You will position patients, administer contrast when needed, and ensure safety and accuracy while following established protocols and HIPAA guidelines. Travel to TOI locations may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain diagnostic images.
  • Select imaging techniques and operate the console and peripherals.
  • Position patients, administer contrast injections, and optimize image quality.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and promote trust.
  • Review the MRI Safety Plan annually.
  • Maintain equipment per OEM specifications; follow OSHA/HIPAA.

Job description

JOB OVERVIEW:

The role of an MRI Technologist operates MRI equipment to obtain filmed images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies, according to Radiologist's directions and established procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.
  • Selects appropriate imaging techniques and operates console and peripheral hardware.
  • Positions patients, administers injections of contrast media and manipulates images to ensure a high quality exam.
  • Explains procedure to patient, giving opportunity for questions to reduce anxiety and promote trust.
  • Confirm patient identification
  • Prescreen and clear all patients prior to the patient entering scan room.
  • Reviews the MRI Safety Plan annually.
  • Cleans and maintains all equipment to OEM specifications.
  • Obtains continuing education credits as required by licensure
  • Follow OSHA Guidelines
  • HIPAA and Corporate Compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and LICENSURE:

Formal education and training in the field of MRI. MRI certification required from ARRT or ARMRIT. Active free and clear State of Florida Radiologic Technologist license

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.

  • Occasionally lift/move/push/pull 50 pounds.
  • Employee should use his/her best judgment in assisting patients and should seek assistance if moving or lifting a patient would exceed the 50 pound limit required for this position.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
  • Travel may be required to existing or new TOI locations.
