Job summary

Relapath is seeking a direct-hire MRI Technologist in the Myrtle Beach, SC area to join a health-system level team. You will operate high-level MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images for radiologists, review orders prior to procedures, and ensure patient comfort and MR safety throughout the process.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or an MRI certification, have 1+ year MRI experience, and be ARRT MR certified or eligible with BLS.

Qualifications

• Requires either an Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or MRI technology certification.
• 1+ year of MRI experience is preferred.
• ARRT MR certification required or registry eligible and must obtain MR certification within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images for radiologists.
• Review orders prior to procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Educate and prep patients for procedures and MR safety.
• Obtain and document patient medical history for interpretation.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures.
• Perform MRI procedures and operate coils to obtain high-quality images.
• Assist with mentoring/training students or new hires.
• Complete exams in hospital information systems and maintain equipment.

This Position

• Use high level of skill to operate specialized MRI equipment to produce computer-generated diagnostic images which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders.
• Perform procedures at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology.
• Demonstrate a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision.

What you will do in this position

• Review orders prior to the day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.
• Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure and MR safety while utilizing effective communication.
• Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.
• Perform MRI procedures as required based on physician’s order.
• Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of MRI and related coils to obtain highest quality images of the anatomy being scanned.
• Start I.V., load and operate power injector, and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.
• Complete exam in hospital information system.
• Clean and maintain all imaging equipment.
• May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.

Education & Experience Qualifications

• Requires one of the following:
  • Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology, OR
  • Certificate of MRI technology certification program (required)
• 1+ year of MRI experience is preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Magnetic Resonance Imaging - American Registry Radiologic Technologist ARRT (MR) certification required or registry eligible (if eligible must obtain MR certification within 24 months of hire or transfer date). Required
• Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required
• South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association certified. Preferred
