Job summary

Akumin seeks an MRI Technologist for Elite Radiology to produce cross-sectional MRI images for diagnostic interpretation. You will perform MRI procedures, acquire data, and assist licensed practitioners under applicable regulations.

Responsibilities include patient safety, contrast administration, and operation of EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems. ARRT(MR) certification, state license, ACLS, and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• ARRT(MR) certification and state license required.
• ACLS certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work at multiple locations and manage multiple tasks.

• Produce high quality MRI images for diagnostic interpretation.

We are currently hiring for an MRI Technologist at our Elite Radiology facilities. This will be a full time position.
As an MRI Technologist, you are required to produce cross-sectional images for medical interpretation through radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic purposes. The technologist performs MRI procedures by acquiring and analyzing data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. The technologist independently performs or assists a licensed practitioner in the completion of magnetic resonance imaging procedures. Technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to contrast administration in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy. They will interact with all healthcare staff, many clerical staff members, all patient care departments and with patient's families and visitors through oral communication and documentation in the patient's electronic medical record. This position is held accountable for performing the correct MRI exams and producing high quality diagnostic images, while maintaining proficiency and complying with company policies and procedures. This role requires a commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care-create a positive experience by maintaining clear communication, ensuring comfort, and upholding the highest safety standards throughout the imaging process.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Be responsible for Patient Safety, including patient pre-screening for contra-indications and order verification. Appropriate management of MRI zones to ensure safety for patients, colleagues, and third-party visitors. Exercise individual thought, judgment and discretion in the performance of the procedure and may require oversight of MRI Technologist Assistants.
• Produces high quality diagnostic images in accordance with company imaging protocols, RadSite/IAC/ACR Accreditation guidelines, and ARRT/ARMRIT practice standards. Knowledge and ability to demonstrate competency of differing MR equipment and power injection equipment. Maintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team-oriented approach. Complete annual and on-going education and site-specific competencies/in-services as designated by leadership. Operation of multiple MR systems may be required.
• Effectively communicates with patients, radiologists and peers. Demonstrates the ability to use all channels of communications to address concerns, solve problems, and address conflict. Maintain confidentiality in matters relating to patients, family and staff in compliance with HIPAA.
• Demonstrate independent competency in contrast safety and administration, including starting and discontinuing peripheral IV's utilizing aseptic injection technique.
• Demonstrate proficiency of the company's EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation. Ensure images are sent timely and proactively address any additional workflow requirements that could delay interpretation impacting turnaround time.
• Train and orient new technologists and MR Technologist Assistants, on site and/or through a remote command center as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
• ARRT(MR) and State License, if applicable.
• ACLS certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.

Preferred:

• Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience
• 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging experience
