Job summary

AdventHealth in Kissimmee, FL seeks an experienced MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI examinations per physician orders, ensuring patient safety and compliance with departmental protocols. The role includes patient education, accurate documentation, and QC tasks.

You will position patients, monitor IV contrast, and follow strict safety standards. ARMRIT/ARRT and BLS are required, along with excellent communication and adaptability in a fast-changing environment.

Qualifications

  • ARMRIT or RT(MR) ARRT Certification required
  • BLS Certification required
  • Excellent customer service and communication with diverse patients and staff
  • Ability to read, write and speak conversational English
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to follow radiation safety concepts (ALARA)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked and safe; maintain equipment cleanliness and safety checks
  • Educate patients about MRI procedures, contrast use and safety
  • Position patients for high-quality imaging with proper immobilization
  • Prepare and monitor IV contrast; observe for adverse reactions
  • Perform QC checks and document in EMR/PACS
  • Follow patient identification, consent and time-out procedures

  • Perform MRI exams according to physician orders and protocols
  • Screen patients for safety and contraindications

Job Description:

Schedule: PRN Per Diem

Location: 2488 E IRLO BRONSON MEMRORIAL HWY, STE 101, KISSIMMEE, FL 34744

  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience:
  • 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program [Preferred]
