Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations to assist in diagnosing medical conditions. Each day you will prepare patients for scans, operate advanced MRI equipment, ensure patient safety in the magnetic environment, and accurately capture detailed anatomical images. You will demonstrate expert technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail for image quality and safety, and excellent patient communication to ensure a comfortable and effective diagnostic experience.
- Prepare equipment for imaging tests, based on physicians’ orders and in adherence to department safeguards and protocols to ensure quality results.
- Prepare patient and perform MRI procedures.
- Maintain records and logs as required by department protocols and licensure requirements.
- Perform incidental general office duties, including answering phone, scheduling, filing, maintaining patient records, and ordering supplies.
- Monitors and adjusts patient flow to minimize wait‑time; identifies excessive volumes and makes arrangements for increased staff.
- Serve as a resource to staff on the protocols of the MRI equipment and responsible for the maintenance of such equipment.
- Provide on‑the‑job training and mentoring to new or lower‑level employees; prepare work schedules and review work to ensure it meets quality and productivity standards; educate staff on magnet safety and practice; identify training needs and advise higher‑level authority.
- Monitor individual staff performance and provide feedback to higher‑level authority; coach employees on procedures and protocols; may provide input into formal employee performance evaluations.
- Maintain level of supplies and order supplies as needed.
Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology, upon hire.
- One year of work experience at the senior level of the job family, or any combination of experience or education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Basic Life Support (through AHA) - CPR, upon hire.
- Medical Radiographer: WA, upon hire.
- Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire or.
- Registered Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging, upon hire.
