Job summary

TALENT Software Services is seeking an MRI technologist in Cincinnati to operate MRI scanners and produce diagnostic images under radiologist supervision. You will greet patients, review orders, and screen for contraindications, ensuring patient safety and image quality.

The role requires experience with Philips MRI equipment, breast MRI, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Schedule is M-F with two start-time options, and the team emphasizes clear communication and adherence to

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and verify name and birthdate.
  • Review orders, history, meds, allergies, questionnaires.
  • Explain procedures and address questions to ensure understanding.
  • Keep patients informed of delays and respond to concerns.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, coworkers, physicians, and staff.
  • Screen for contraindications and start IV for contrast as needed.
  • Position and scan patients, archive procedures, ensure quality images.
  • Know coils, gating devices, and MRI equipment.
  • Handle MRI computer startup/shutdown; ensure safety.
  • Administer contrast media per protocol and physician directions.
  • Identify, prepare, administer, and document medications.
  • Reconcile medications for contrast interactions.
  • Complete tasks timely and support coworkers in other modalities.
  • Verify orders and act on them appropriately.
  • Screen and instruct patients on MRI risks.
  • Wear a dosimeter and follow safety procedures.
  • Move patients safely and prevent injuries.
  • Adhere to safety goals and emergency procedures.

Job Summary

The primary responsibility is to operate MRI scanners to obtain diagnostic images of specified body parts as requested. The technologist must produce quality images for radiologist interpretation and function independently with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities
  • Greet patients by introducing yourself and verifying their name and birthdate.
  • Take pertinent patient history, review procedure orders, and check documentation, current medications, allergy information, and completed questionnaires.
  • Explain procedures to patients, address questions, and ensure understanding.
  • Anticipate patient needs, keep patients and families informed of delays, and respond to concerns appropriately.
  • Communicate professionally with all customers, coworkers, physicians, and their office staff, respecting differences.
  • Prepare patients for MRI scans by explaining procedures, screening for indwelling material affected by the magnetic field, taking patient history, and starting IV for contrast media administration as necessary.
  • Position patients, scan, and archive procedures according to established protocols, producing diagnostic images within quality control parameters.
  • Have knowledge of coils, gating devices, and other necessary equipment for procedure completion.
  • Possess a working knowledge of MRI computers, including startup and shutdown, and handle situations involving equipment and patient safety.
  • Utilize proper venipuncture techniques for contrast media administration as necessary.
  • Administer contrast media for MRI scans according to established protocols or as directed by a physician.
  • Label syringes appropriately according to policy.
  • Identify, prepare, administer, and document various medications used during procedures.
  • Reconcile patient medications to ensure no interactions with contrast media.
  • Complete all work in a timely, efficient, and productive manner.
  • Assist coworkers in other modalities as appropriate, such as starting IVs, completing computer functions, and preparing patients.
  • Verify medical orders for accuracy and act upon them appropriately.
  • Screen patients and others before entering the scan room to reduce injury risk.
  • Instruct patients, self, and personnel on risks associated with MRI units.
  • Wear and store dosimeter appropriately, switching out quarterly and in a timely manner.
  • Use appropriate devices for moving patients to protect both the patient and self.
  • Observe patients and assist as necessary to minimize the risk of falls or other injuries.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, including proper handwashing, patient identification, and medication administration.
  • Understand and execute policies and procedures in cases of medical emergencies, fires, tornadoes, and other emergency situations.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation, and sterile techniques/procedures.
  • Experience in patient positioning and equipment operation (x‑ray machines and printers).
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
Schedule Notes

M-F 6:30-3:00 or 10:30-7:00, rotating weekly between the two start times.

Experience with Philips MRI equipment and breast MRI is required.
