Job summary

TalentBurst is hiring an MRI Technologist for a night shift position in Charlotte, North Carolina. The role is onsite and lasts 13 weeks, with 10-hour nights from Thursday through Monday and on-call weekend requirements.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of MRI experience, ARRT-MR credential, and BLS. Responsibilities include patient setup, safety, contrast administration, and coordinating with a radiologist and support staff.

• Experience with pediatric and adult patients.
• ARMRIT not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI equipment and position patients.
• Monitor patients and administer contrast as needed.
• Assist and communicate with nursing staff.
• Handle solo MRI situations during night shifts.

Night Shift 10 hours/day 4 days/week

Title:MRI Technologist
Location:Charlotte North Carolina 28262
Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 10hr Night Shift - 40

Shift Information: M-Th 2030-0700 Rotating weekend call

Clinical Interviewing- No

On Call, Call Back Requirements: Yes 1 weekend per month Friday night – Monday morning 1 hour response time

Weekend Rotation: dependent requisition

Holiday Requirements: EOW

Floating Requirements: None

About Facility:

• 130 Licensed Beds
• Stroke Center
• Not Trauma designated
• Not a teaching hospital
• Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

Unit Information:

• Beds: 1
  • Census: Average patients/day: 25-30 in 24h

Minimum Years of Experience required: 1 year MRI experience minimum, will accept acute or outpatient

• Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• 5-year-old – geriatric. Peds done during the day. Could see infant from NICU that has suspected brain bleed (rare).
• Stroke, internal auditory canal (IAC), pituitary, feet, abdomen, brains, total spines, defecography, urograms, enterography. Devices on Wednesdays during the day, devices for Healthcare 24h.

Required License, National Certification, Certs:

• BLS, ARRT-MR
• Will not accept ARMRIT

Skills required:

• Experience with above patient types, setting up suction, operating O2, understanding MRI safety and understanding what can and cannot go into the bore with patient, handling critical/vented patients (ICU RN and RT will accompany patient), placing patients on MR tele, administering contrast.
• Soft skills: critical thinking, comfortable caring for confused patients, being punctual!
• If position is for Nights, will be working as solo MRI Tech with MRI assistant
• IV skills if position is for Days

Support within the Department:

• Transporter until 2300
• MRI Assistant for days/nights
• Lead MRI Tech during the day, available via phone at night if needed
• Manager during day shift hours
• Scheduler will schedule day shift outpatients
• Radiologist offsite reading 24/7
• RT 24/7
• Hospitalist 24/7
• Rapid Response/Code Team

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC – preferred
• IV Pump: Medirad MRI IV pump
• PACS: ViewPACS
• Unit specific equipment: Client Client Artist 1.5, MR 400 tele monitor

Floating:No
Orientation (facility and unit):

• NEO
• If position is for Nights, will have 1 week of days and 1 week of nights of unit orientation.
• If position is for Days, will have up to 3 weeks of unit orientation

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: dependent requisition
• On call: Yes
  • 1 weekend per month
  • Friday night – Monday morning
  • 1 hour response time
  • If requisition is for Nights, will not be required to take call
• Holiday Expectations: every other holiday
• Approval of RTO: ok to approve up to 7 days
• Shift times: dependent on requisition
• Schedule cycle: will be on set schedule
