Job summary

Akumin, located in Chambersburg, is seeking an MRI Technologist to ensure patient safety and perform high-quality MRI studies on site and/or remotely. The role includes effective communication with patients, radiologists, and training new staff.

Successful candidates should have relevant certifications and are preferred to have an associate degree. Physical ability to interact with patients as well as flexibility for local travel is required. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is being offered.

Qualifications

• ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required.
• State license and CPR certification needed.
• 3 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience or enrollment in an accredited MRI training program.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety, including pre-screening and aseptic injection.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images using multiple MR systems.
• Train and orient new technologists and assistants.

Job Summary

$2,500 Sign‑On Bonus. As an MRI Technologist, you are responsible for patient safety and the performance of high‑quality MR studies, on site and/or remote. You ensure effective communication with radiologists, team members, patients, and customers, especially in a mobile environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety, including pre‑screening for contraindications and aseptic injection technique.
• Produce high‑quality diagnostic images.
• Operate multiple MR systems, as required.
• Use all communication channels to address concerns, solve problems, and manage conflict.
• Communicate effectively with customers and radiologists.
• Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators, and MR technologist assistants, on site and/or remotely.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT, or ARRT in lieu of ARRT per contract.
• State license, if applicable.
• CPR certification.
• Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
• 3 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience or more than 6 months enrolled in an accredited MRI training program.
• Ability to work at several locations.
• Strong customer service, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.

Preferred

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Registry in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT.
• 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging experience.

Physical Requirements

• May be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport for a mobile unit.
• May be exposed to a strong magnetic field.
• May be exposed to blood or body fluids and infectious disease during patient interactions.
• More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk; perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements; see, speak, and hear to communicate with patients.
• Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or examination.
